Rollercoaster Tycoon- By far the most famous coaster game, Chris Sawyer's iconic Rollercoaster Tycoon has kickstarted god knows how many aspiring roller coaster engineering dreams. You get a grid and you get to build flat rides and pretty simple roller coasters on it while managing the park financially. I've played a version adapted to Nintendo DS and it feels like a watered down version of the super familiar Rollercoaster Tycoon. Theme Park- This is the original roller coaster game, it's so dated that when it first came out it was packaged with an external CD drive. I know very few enthusiasts who have never played a coaster game, but which one is your favorite? Here's a rundown of all the major ones, in case you've not played all of them. If anyone is making a full recreation of Six Flags Great Adventure (the whole park will fit in NL2, I checked!), feel free to use this as long as you give credit. To some degree, I've always loved roller coasters since my mother got me a copy of old school Rollercoaster Tycoon from the library and ended up buying it for me because I loved it so much, and I still have the disk from over fifteen years ago. The station is completely made of supports, there are no custom 3D objects.Īs an added bonus, it includes 19 minutes of accurate station music, which is why the download is so large. The coaster itself is completely finished, the station is a work in progress (mainly fences and the control booth left) and the queue and scenery work hasn't been started yet. It's timed perfectly, but the correct timing will only kick in once each train has launched once.Īll the track and support work was done by hand using photos for reference and Google Earth to get the distances right. There are no trims on top of the tower, and there's an extra block before the fork switch track in order to shorten the launch interval. Trains dispatch one at a time from alternating sides. In this recreation, each train unloads on the rear platform then moves up to the front platform to load. It's a recreation of Kingda Ka that is as accurate as possible, while improving the coaster's operation and dispatch pattern above and beyond what's done on the real coaster.
